According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, around 21% of vehicle crashes are weather-related. Rain, sleet, snow, fog, and blowing debris reduce visibility and create hazardous driving conditions. In fact, weather-related vehicle accidents contribute to far more deaths than the combined impact of natural disasters like tornadoes, hurricanes, and floods – almost 15x as many fatalities nationwide. What’s a driver to do?
Windshield wipers, windshield wipers, windshield wipers! Wipers are a crucial component of overall vehicle safety – helping you see clearly when visibility is reduced. That’s why we’re thrilled to sponsor the first annual Wiper Week, a collaborative initiative to increase safe driving in our nation’s capital and to raise awareness about the importance of visibility on the road for drivers, passengers, bicyclists, and pedestrians alike.
All week long, from April 1-5, 2025, we're shining a spotlight on these unsung heroes and giving away windshield wiper replacements and installation absolutely free. All you have to do is register in advance and show up at one of our participating installation locations.
April showers bring… free windshield wipers!
How do you get free windshield wipers? It’s easy! If you: are a resident of D.C., MD or VA; register in advance at WiperWeek.org; and bring your vehicle to a participating location, we’ll remove your existing windshield wipers and install new ones at no cost to you.
In 2023 alone, our National Capital Region experienced an estimated 327 traffic fatalities, 14,000+ injuries, and 53,000+ crashes. Don’t be another statistic.
